If you’re a cycling fan and visiting Montreal this weekend, you’re in luck because you’re just in time for two exciting events that are part of the GO Bike MTL festival happening this week. The Tour la Nuit and the Tour de l’Île are friendly, untimed, bike rides through car-free streets – the perfect way to see Montreal and hang out with the city’s enthusiastic cycling community. Whether you join the cyclists, set up somewhere along the route to cheer on participants, or join the festivities where the rides finish up in lovely Parc Jeanne-Mance, you don’t want to miss these fun, high-spirited events.

Tour la Nuit is an evening bike ride through the streets of Montreal. The car-free, 20 KM route begins at Parc Lafontaine, does a loop through Old Montreal and part of Verdun, criss-crosses the Lachine Canal, and finally ends back on the Plateau at Parc Jeanne-Mance. Dress up in your favorite costume, affix lights and decorations to your bike, and enjoy the sights and company on this lovely ride.

Start: 20:30 p.m., Parc-La Fontaine Avenue
Finish: Jeanne-Mance Park – Entertainment as of 9:30 p.m.

Tour de l’Île de Montréal – Sunday, June 4th

This ride takes you through the heart of the city with every 10 km marked by a lively thematic landmark. With varying lengths, the classic route is 50 or 28 KM, but a longer 100 or 65 KM route is also offered. There will be rest areas along the way with water, toilets, food trucks and entertainment, and everything you need. MEC will be setting up booths to offer mechanical assistance. The tour winds up finally in Parc Jeanne-Mance where entertainment and festivities will continue throughout the day and evening.
