The first Christmas lights are starting to sparkle around the city, brightening up the post-daylight-savings time evenings, and we’ve just seen the first dusting of snow. If you’re starting to think about holiday shopping and festive ways to celebrate the season, here is the perfect guide for you. Montreal has amazing holiday craft sales— drawing some of the city’s most talented artists, crafters, designers, and makers to unique events throughout November and December. Here is a list of the best markets, sales, and fairs in the weeks to come.

  1. Marché Éphémère EtsyMTL à la Gare Windsor

    Etsy MTL’s one day pop-up market is here just in time to kick off the holiday season. This first time event will take place in the Salle des Pas Perdus at Windsor Station, downtown. Over 140 artisans, makers, and designers will be participating, creating a beautiful opportunity to support local artists and come away with original, handmade items.

  2. Montreal’s 30th Annual Tibetan Bazaar and Cultural Fair

This beautiful Tibetan bazaar and cultural fair takes place each year at Santa Cruz Mission, the lively Portuguese parish on the corner of Rachel and St. Urbain on the Plateau. Head on over Nov. 26 & 27 to find Tibetan art, handicrafts, music, dance, traditional cuisine and much more. This event is held in collaboration with the Canada Tibet Committee and Montréal’s Tibetan community.

When: November 26 & 27, Saturday 11AM to 7PM, Sunday noon to 6PM

3. Expozine 


Expozine is Montreal’s small press and zine fair, an incredibly popular annual event that draws huge crowds. This year will feature over 250 participating publishers both local and international. Take a peek into a unique aspect of Montreal’s art scene, hang out with the creators, and come away with the perfect gifts for the art lovers in your life.

4. Salon des métiers d’art de Montréal


For nearly 60 years, the Salon des métiers d’art de Montréal has drawn exhibitors from all over the province, and even from outside Canada, to this major cultural event in Montreal. The standards of recognition are what set this craft show apart.
All works exhibited at this show are recognized as “fine crafts” by peers in accordance with the norms and standards of Conseil des métiers d’art du Québec. This year more than 325 exhibitors will participate.

When: December 7 to 17, 2017, Monday to Saturday : 11AM to 9PM, Sunday : 11AM to 6PM

5. Puces POP Winter Edition

Puces POP is a giant DIY festival featuring some of Montreal’s most talented creators. With over 100 vendors, this is the perfect holiday shopping event with so much to see, enjoy, and take home with you. Your chance to get to know Montreal’s artisan community over two weekends in December.

When: December 8-9-10 and 15-16-17, Friday 3PM to 8PM, Saturday 11AM to 6PM, and Sunday 11AM to 5PM.

6. Marché des Fétes by EtsyMTL

The second of two holiday craft events EtsyMTL is hosting this season, Marché des Fétes will take place at the Théâtre Denise-Pelletier in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve neighbourhood to the east of downtown. The two-day market will host over 100 vendors from Montreal and the surrounding area. This festive event provides the perfect venue to find unique, artist-made gifts, and finish up your last minute holiday shopping.
